Tackling My Physical TBR and Creating TBRs as a Mood Reader

Hello, everyone! After my last post–My 2023 Year in Books Ranked–I felt my next one should be a little less…verbose. As it’s the start of the new year (happy new year!) and one of my 2024 goals is to get a handle on my physical TBR, I wanted to take some time to look at what I’m working with.

On top of just seeing what’s on my shelves, it’s been knocking around in my brain for a little while about how to feed the mood reader in me whilst attempting some level of structure. The idea that I’m going to try out in hopes of achieving this is creating TBRs/lists based around not only genres, but subgenres and/or specific moods/concepts. I’m not sure this will work but I’d like to try it out and see! For ease of consumption, I’ll be sorting my physical TBR out in this manner (in the most basic sense, however, because I plan on refining these more in the future).

As many books as there are here, this isn’t actually all of them. I do have a few more tucked around different places, and there’s a significant number of nonfiction books (things on sociology and psychology, hauntings/paranormal events, novel-writing, a few memoirs, and more) that I didn’t get to–but I’m going to save all of that for another time. I think there’s more than enough here already.

On a side-note, I would like to mention that all but maybe two of these books were all purchased second-hand and over many years. I feel incredibly fortunate to have the vast collection of physical books that I do, and I definitely would not have so many if I were buying these new! Large physical collections aren’t logistically realistic for some readers, and that’s perfectly fine. 🙂 I could probably use a good decluttering myself (which may occur if I end up disliking any of these books mentioned).

Have you read any of the books on the list? What did you think? What does your physical TBR look like? Are you also trying to catch up on yours this year? I’d love to hear your thoughts below!
