Top 10 Books on My Spring 2024 TBR | TTT

Hello, everyone! Happy spring! Winter isn’t my least favorite season but it was definitely not jiving with me this year around — way too cold, way too long, way too not my speed. I’m looking forward to longer and warmer days, and I’m hoping that my productivity will be boosted because of it. What are you planning to do this spring?

In recent years, I’ve made more of an effort to pick media to consume alongside the respective season but spring has always been the hardest one to do that with for me. Because of that, my spring reads tend not to be very “spring-like” and are more of everything I didn’t get to over the winter. That is the case with a lot of the ones on this list!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

1. Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

I’ve saved Rebecca for autumn/winter for a few years now but I save so many other stories for those seasons, and this one keeps winding up forsaken. It does seem a little counterintuitive to pick up a gothic novel in the springtime but it’s one of the April picks for the Goodreads group “Everyone Has Read This But Me”, and I wanted to let someone else pick one of my reads!

2. The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde

The Importance of Being Earnest is another one I’ve meant to read for years, and it’s another EHRTBM pick for April so I’m going to try getting it in next month. I think of the two picks, I’m more likely to finish this one as it’s much shorter…

3. Who Could That Be at This Hour (All the Wrong Questions, #1) by Lemony Snicket

I expanded by Lemony Snicket collection last year with various standalones, companions, and the All the Wrong Questions quartet. Of those, I’ve read all but the quartet and it feels like it’s time to finally pick it up. I think I could use a good middle grade story about now!

4. King of Scars (King of Scars, #1) by Leigh Bardugo

King of Scars has been waiting patiently on my physical TBR for several seasons now and it unfortunately keeps getting pushed aside for others. That being said, I’ve been wanting to revisit the Grishaverse for a while now, and I’m already doing my best to battle my constant desire for rereads, so this seems like the best place to go!

5. Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger

I’d been on the lookout for Franny and Zooey while thrifting for a while and finally found it at my local library’s book sale back in October. Because of that, I put it on my winter TBR but unfortunately didn’t get to it then. It seems short enough that I think I can feasibly fit it in this season!

6. The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater

Although I just mentioned trying to avoid rereads, I’m allowing myself to at least indulge an annual reread of The Raven Cycle. Whenever spring comes creeping in, I always have a craving for the world of Henrietta and like to start it on St. Marks Eve (when the novel opens). Very much looking forward to that!

7. The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan

After Percy Jackson & the Olympians took over and made my reading last year, I was a little unsure about continuing on with any of the spin-off series. I loved the original five books (plus The Chalice of the Gods) but I’d heard some people say it was best to stick with those. But there’s been the inverse, too, and I’m thinking of finding out my own thoughts by starting The Lost Hero!

8. Dead Things Are Closer Than They Appear by Robin Wasley

I’ve been talking about Dead Things Are Closer Than They Appear for many, many months now and though I preordered it and it’s been on my shelf for over a month, I’ve been too bogged down in all my other current reads. I finally finished another book I’ve been talking about non-stop, Together We Rot by Skyla Arndt (review to come…), so I think I’ll be able to prioritize this one more!

9. Uprooted by Naomi Novik

Uprooted is another one I’ve been putting on TBR lists for months now, and I’m really hoping to get to it this spring. I’ve been looking forward to it since getting a copy last fall, and, like Dead Things Are Closer Than They Appear, I think I may finally get the time/energy to read it soon!

10. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (Hunger Games, #0) by Suzanne Collins

Finally, I’m really hoping to get to The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes within the next few months. I did the bad thing and watched the movie first (though I didn’t break until the DVD came to my local library so I pride myself on that little willpower) and have been craving a rewatch — so I thought reading the book would be an even better choice. I have a physical copy and have had the audiobook on hold via Libby but have kept having to suspend my hold because I’m in the middle of too many books with too many deadlines at the moment. But I’ll hopefully start it soon!

Have you read any of the books on this list? Did you like them? Why, or why not? What books did you mean to read/finish last year that you didn’t get to? I’d love to hear your thoughts below!

    1. I’m so excited for all of them, especially TBOSAS! I obviously can’t compare how the movie holds up against the book yet but I did really enjoy it. 🙂

  1. […] This section is untouched from last month, be that unfortunate or not. I do want to prioritize any one or more of these although I do have to admit an old habit is emerging for the first time this year: a reading mood shift. So far this year I’ve been getting to most of the ones I’ve prioritized, just at a slower pace. However, I ended up just ordering some new books which may completely foil my spring TBR… […]
